Suzlon and the American Wind Energy Association are proud to partner again to bring you the 13th annual WINDPOWER Golf Open on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Eaglewood Resort and Spa in Itasca, Illinois. As we have done in past years, Suzlon and AWEA will allocate proceeds from registration fees and a raffle to a very worthy cause – the Wind Energy Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting the continued growth of wind energy through research, education and communication. All Golf Open contributions are to be placed in a fund for academic scholarships. Additionally, golfers will network with the industry’s top leaders and executives to make the contacts you need to grow your business and sustain the wind power industry into the future.
The 13th Annual WINDPOWER Golf Open will be held at the Eaglewood Resort and Spa located in Chicago’s northwest suburbs, just 40 minutes from downtown Chicago. The course features carefully simulated holes from some of the greatest and most memorable golf holes in America. This all-inclusive event features access to industry leaders, great food, keepsake golf shirt, and of course, transportation from the convention center, greens fees, and golf carts. Shot gun start is at 9:00 a.m. and golfers will play on a four-person team that will use the best ball for the following stroke.
The non-refundable payment per participant is $225, which includes transportation to and from the convention center, tournament fees, an official 2013 WINDPOWER Golf Open shirt, and an awards program over a barbeque buffet. Golf club rental will be an additional $40. The tournament also offers prizes to the best performing golfers, as well as a raffle with fabulous prizes, including a restored set of vintage golf clubs, to benefit the Wind Energy Foundation’s scholarship program.
As part of our annual fundraiser, a lucky participant who buys a raffle ticket will take home a beautifully restored, vintage 1960's set of Byron Nelson, Jr (PGA Tour golfer 1935 and 1946) golf clubs. This incredible set includes 1, 3 and 5 woods, and 2 - 9 irons with matching putter and bag. 
EVENT PROGRAM
7:00 a.m. Bus departs promptly from Convention Center
7:45 a.m. Arrive at Golf Course – head to registration tables for golf package and team boards
9:00 a.m. Shot gun start
2:00 p.m. Barbeque buffet
2:45 p.m. Awards and raffle prizes presented, as well fundraising level announced
3:15 p.m. Bus leaves Eaglewood Golf Course
4:00 p.m. Bus arrives back to convention center*
*We have structured this program to allow for WINDPOWER participants to attend the 5:00 pm Opening Reception on the terrace at McCormick Place. If you feel our bus transportation doesn’t allow you sufficient time, please consider alternative transportation for yourself.
